There are seven wonders in the world, but the truth is that many people may never get the opportunity to see even one of them in their lifetime. We see these incredible places in books, films, videos and photographs, but standing in front of them in real life is a completely different feeling.
I have always been curious about history. I enjoy reading about it, learning about it and visiting places where history once happened. Whenever I stand inside an old fort or near ancient walls, many questions automatically come to my mind.
What happened here hundreds of years ago?
Who lived here?
How did they spend their days?
What conversations took place in these very spaces?
I like standing in historical places and imagining the stories of people who are long gone but somehow still feel connected to those walls.
The Taj Mahal was never really my dream destination.
But I wanted to see it.
I wanted to understand what was so special about this monument that it became one of the Seven Wonders of the World. What makes millions of people travel to Agra just to see it? Is it really as beautiful in real life as it looks in photographs?
So, when I finally visited Taj Mahal Agra, I went there with curiosity rather than huge expectations.
And honestly, after seeing it with my own eyes, I understood why the world continues to admire it.

How My Journey to Taj Mahal Agra Began
I visited Agra with one of my friends, Sanaya.
She had been asking me again and again to plan a trip to the Taj Mahal. It almost felt like seeing the Taj Mahal was one of those things she wanted to do as soon as possible.
Finally, one day, I decided that I would take her to Agra.
The problem was that she had limited leave from work, so we only had one day for the trip. Because of this, we planned a quick one-day visit to Agra.
The first thing we had to decide was how to reach there.
Agra is easily accessible by bus, train and taxi. Buses were available, but they could take more time, and since we had only one day, we didn’t want to spend too much of it travelling.
So, we decided to go by train.
I quickly booked two seats for the next day, and our tickets cost around ₹140 per person at that time. We travelled from Delhi and reached Tundla Junction at around 9:45 in the morning.
From Tundla, shared taxis and other transport options were available. But we wanted to reach the Taj Mahal quickly, so we booked a private taxi for around ₹300.
Within approximately 30 minutes, the driver dropped us near the Taj Mahal area.
From the point where our vehicle dropped us, we still had to walk around 400 metres to reach the entrance.
And with every step, my curiosity was growing.
Taj Mahal Agra Ticket Price and Entry Information
We booked our tickets online, and during our visit, the ticket cost us around ₹45.

After completing the entry process, you begin walking deeper into the Taj Mahal complex.
There was a lot of activity around us. Tourists were moving in different directions, taking photographs and exploring the historical surroundings.
At the beginning, you can notice some rooms and structures around the complex.
As someone who is naturally curious about history, I immediately started wondering about these places.
Historical accounts describe the Taj Mahal as a massive construction project involving thousands of skilled workers, craftsmen and artisans. It is easy to imagine how much planning and organisation must have been required to build something of this scale.
I kept thinking about the people who worked here.
If thousands of workers were involved in the construction, how did they live? Where did they stay? How did they manage their daily lives while working on such a huge project?
These are the kinds of questions that always come to my mind when I visit historical places.
Because when you look at a monument today, you usually see only the final masterpiece.
But behind that masterpiece were thousands of people, years of work and countless stories that history does not always tell us completely.

But as I moved closer through the gateway, it felt as if the Taj Mahal was moving farther away instead of coming closer.
Normally, when you walk towards an object, it should naturally appear closer.
But here, because of the way the monument, gateway and perspective work together, the experience feels completely different.
The more you walk forward, the view keeps changing in a way that makes you want to keep looking.
Whether you call it an optical effect, perspective or simply brilliant architectural planning, it was one of the details that made me appreciate the Taj Mahal even before I reached close to the main monument.

Taj Mahal Photos: We Explored Every Angle
We spent around two to two and a half hours inside the Taj Mahal complex.
And honestly, the time passed quickly.
We took lots of photographs and videos. We looked at the Taj Mahal from different angles and tried to enjoy every part of the experience.
This is one of those places where you feel like taking photographs again and again because every angle gives you a slightly different view.

But my biggest advice would be this:
Take photos, of course.
Capture your memories.
Make videos.
But don’t spend your entire visit looking through your phone screen.
Put your camera down for a few minutes.

Did We Enter the Main Mausoleum?
We personally did not go inside the main mausoleum.
Visitors who want to enter the main tomb area associated with Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal may need to purchase an additional ticket according to the current entry rules.
During our visit, we decided not to spend extra time there because we wanted to enjoy the overall monument and explore it from outside.
We spent our time walking around, taking photos, making videos and simply looking at the Taj Mahal from different perspectives.
And honestly, I was completely satisfied with the experience.
Sometimes travelling is not about ticking every possible attraction from a list.
Sometimes it is about finding one place and giving yourself enough time to actually experience it.
Imagining the Taj Mahal in Its Own Time
This was probably the most interesting part for me.
I kept imagining what this place must have looked like centuries ago.
Think about it.
How would kings and royal visitors have arrived here?
Would they have come on horses?
Would elephants have been part of the royal processions?
What would the atmosphere have been like?
Where would people stand?
What conversations would have taken place?
And then I looked at the Taj Mahal again and thought about the person who imagined this design.
Did they ever think they were creating something that would become a symbol for generations to come? Don’t rush through the complex. We spent around 2 to 2.5 hours there, and I think that was enough time to enjoy the monument properly.
Don’t Visit Only for Photos
The photographs are important, but the real experience is standing there and appreciating the monument without looking through a screen.
After Leaving the Taj Mahal
After spending such a wonderful time there, we slowly started walking towards the exit.
But because we only had one day in Agra, our journey was not over yet.
We also wanted to visit Agra Fort.
As soon as you come outside the Taj Mahal area, you can find different local transport options, including auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws.
During our visit, we found rides that could take us towards Agra Fort for around ₹40, although prices can naturally vary depending on the time and availability.
